This is a pictorial directory of senators and representatives. It has contact information, committee assignments and districts. [REF JK 4771 .A326]

Profiles of Senators and Representatives are included with addresses and phone numbers. Also includes analyses of each person's district and election results. [REF JK 4774.5 .G73]

Louisiana State Government Telephone Directory. (Baton Rouge, LA: Office of Telecommunications Management).

This contains listings for state agencies arranged alphabetically by city. It includes fax numbers and toll free numbers. [REF JK 4730 .L68]

Louisiana Legislative History:

Louisiana State Legislature  - from 1997 - present
When working from the Revised Statute or section of the Code, you need to find:
       The Act number and the year.
       From the Act, you need to find the bill number.

The Act number and year are given in the notes in  West's Louisiana Statutes Annotated.
The Legislature's web site gives Act and bill numbers.
The bill number is aso found in the set of Acts of the State of Louisiana -(KFL 25.A24 ) in the library.

Bill status information, bill versions, votes, amendments, etc. are published on the web site from 1997. Look under "Session Info" at the top of the page.
From 1999, floor proceedings and House Committee meetings are available by means of video through the Internet. They are located at house.louisana.gov

Before 1997, you need the bill number to look at the Legislative Calendar -( KFL 8 .L683). The volumes  are organized by bill number in the volume for the year and session. The bill is tracked by the dates as it progresses.

The Legislative Journals are divided by House and Senate and are organized by dates. Go to the appropriate volume for the bill you are researching, find the dates you found in the Calendar and see if the bill is discussed. Actions on the bills, such as hearings and votes will be listed.

The House and Senate Docket provide minutes of commitee discussion, along with the history of the bill, all versions, Journal, Calendar and minutes. A fee is charged for the service. Floor debates are not recorded and committee reports are not published.

Louisiana Legislative Materials-Print Collection

Acts of the State of Louisiana. (Baton Rouge, LA).

This set comprises a chronological listing of the text of enacted Louisiana laws, published at the end of every legislative year. [KFL 25 .A24]

The Advocate. (Baton Rouge, LA).

This is a newspaper that is the official state journal. Acts first appear in an insert. There is no subject access. The bills are published in numerical order. [KFL 25 .A26]

Louisiana Legislative Calendar. (Baton Rouge, LA).

The Calendar lists bills in numerical order and is published once a week during the session. It indexes bills and gives history and status. [KFL 8 .L683]

Louisiana Legislative House and Senate Bills. (Baton Rouge, LA).

These slip bills are available in paper and microfiche in the library. They can also be requested from the Clerk of the House or Senate, from legislative sponsors or committees or purchased from commercial services. Loyola has bills in paper 1970 to present, House:[ KFL 6 .L683] Senate:[KFL 6 .L686]

Louisiana Legislative Official Journals of the House and Senate. (Baton Rouge, LA).

These include daily outlines of a bill's progress, voting records of legislators, absence reports, etc. They do not include verbatim floor debates. [House - KFL 18 .L683, Senate - KFL 18 .L687]

Louisiana Legislative Resume. (Baton Rouge, LA).

This is published at the end of each legislative session and includes detailed tables of all legislative activity. It is indexed and has tables with approval and effective dates by bill number and tables with statute sections effected. [KFL 15 .L48]

Louisiana Statutes Annotated. (LSA). (St. Paul, MN: West Publishing Co.).

This set is a commercially published subject arrangement of the Acts. Bound volumes are updated by pocket parts. The annotations include histories of the statute with Act numbers. [Ranges 101, 205, 347 and KFL 30.5 .W4 A21]

West's Louisiana Session Law Service. (St. Paul, MN: West Publishing Co.).

These pamphlets start coming out soon after the session adjourns. They have the first subject index to the Acts until the volumes are published.

Executive Orders

Regulations:

Louisiana Register. (Baton Rouge, LA: Louisiana Office of the State Register).

This monthly periodical publishes certified regulations and legal notices issued by the executive branch of the state government. These include executive orders issued by the governor, agency rules and regulations, documents required to be published by act of the Louisiana Legislature, and other state agency documents of public interest. The "Administrative Code update," offers access by LAC title, part, and section numbers to updates of those cited sections which have appeared in the Louisiana Register. [ KFL 34 .A2 L68]

Louisiana Administrative Code. (Baton Rouge, LA: Louisiana Office of the State Register).

This set comprises approximately twenty permanent volumes, supplemented in some cases by interim booklets. The volumes each represent broad subject areas. One major drawback to the LAC is that it has not yet been completed, and there is no comprehensive index.
